Fall Hiking In The Mount Washington Valley

Echo Lake Trail

Echo Lake Trail is a 0.8 mile moderately trafficked easy loop trail that boasts beautiful cliff views of popular climbing locations White Horse Ledge and Cathedral Ledge as well as picturesque Echo Lake. This loop trail is good for all skill levels. The trail offers a number of activity options for all four seasons.  If you are short for time but still want to experience beautiful foliage, Echo Lake will not disappoint.

 

Black Cap Mountain

Black Cap Mountain is one of the most popular short hikes here in North Conway. The trailhead is located at the top of Hurricane Mountain Road.  A 2.2 mile round trip hike allows stellar views of the Presidential Range and rock slabs at the summit. Black Cap trail is a part of the Green Hills Preserve, so if you are feeling ambitious you can traverse over to Cranmore or Peaked Mountain. If you are visiting the area and want just a taste of what our beautiful mountain ranges can offer, this easy summit will leave you begging for more.

 

South Moat Mountain

South Moat Mountain trailhead, located on Dugway Road off of Passaconaway Road in Conway is rated as moderate difficulty with round-trip mileage of 5.4 miles. If you are a moderately experienced hiker looking for a little bit more of a challenge (and reward), tackle this summit! This is a phenomenal hike that will lead you to an open rocky summit of 2270 feet with 360-degree views. The views from South Moat are some of the best in town. Get the true birds-eye experience of our town.  Ridgelines and breathtaking sights to Mount Washington will prove our love for this Valley.

 

Kearsarge North

The mighty Kearsarge North Summit at 3,268 feet features a stunning fire tower at the summit which draws locals and tourists alike for day hikes and overnights. The 6.2 mile round trip hike is rated as moderate. Enjoy 360-degree views to both Maine and the popular 4000 foot summits of the White Mountains.
